The coming imprisonment.
I see the trends in our world. It’s just as Christ told us it would be. Things are going from bad to worse.
Today, I am in prayer for churches around the world, but particularly in California, as the showdown over the oppression of Christianity has just taken a drastic turn. Overnight, a judge ruled in favor of the county of Los Angeles to allow them to continue to ban indoor religious services. I fear the conflict will escalate to the point of seeing pastors taken away in handcuffs this morning.
As a believer, I have wrestled as of late with the notion that I will face this same fate at some point in my life. My wife and I have talked about it many times – being willing to suffer imprisonment for standing firm for Christ. I don’t take it lightly, but then – neither did the apostle Paul.
In my lifetime, I expect to go to jail for my faith. And when I do, I will consider it pure joy to be counted as worthy to suffer for Christ.
Will you? Or will you deny the one who bore your sins on the cross?
Choose this day whom you will serve.
